Lamija Sulje
Through her rough childhood Lamija Sulje has a very unique inspiration which creates gives her work much depth.
She was born in Bosnia but had to flee to Sweden during the war in 1992 (she was 5 years old) and all they had was the clothes on their backs. She feels like she had to be an adult at 5, which is why she is finding her youth and letting herself be young through her work.
She began discovering her passion for design when she was 11, she studied fashion design for three years in a small town called Vaxjoe later specializing in pattern design and tailoring in Stockholm. She started her own label when she was 17 but decided to move on and work under her own name.
Lamija Sulje's gypsy style is inspired by her mother and her Bohemian background; she works a lot with handicrafts and uses traditional techniques. Her crocheted pieces have are mainly inspired by her grandmother. "I love the process of making my future by going back to the past"
All her pieces are one of a kind at this point in time, she enjoys to work with more limited collections as it is important to her to get to know her customers. She feels like she needs to know that the story will end well, almost like the clothes are her children.
